Buying A Home: Step-by-Step

Determine how much you can afford.

It’s important to know what you can afford. Generally, you can afford a home equal in value to between two and three times your gross income.

Make a home wish list.

Then, prioritize the features on your list. If you’re not sure what part of town you want to live in, search our community profiles to find helpful information on schools, recreation and more.

Become a Priority Buyer.

Pre-approval is essential before beginning a formal search in today’s market. I have several lenders I can recommend.

Start your search.

Use our Virtual MapAdvanced or Open House search to find properties that match your wish list. And you can save your favorites to your Favorites  account.

Make an offer.

You’ve found the one you love, now it’s time to make an offer I will  negotiate on your behalf and help you write a successful contract.

Inspection.

A professional inspection will let you know if there are any issues with the property.

Complete your mortgage loan.

Work with your mortgage consultant to complete the formal loan paperwork. The loan will be processed and a date set for closing.

Close on your new home.

Closing day includes signing final loan documents and transfer of title. And, you get the keys! Congratulations, you are now a home owner!

Move.

Be sure to set up utilities at your new home and change your mailing address. Then pack and move!
